The ACM Awards have been dominated by female artists in recent years, with the last three Entertainer of the Year awards going to a woman. This category will tell us a lot about what to expect in the larger category as well. Twice in the last three years, an artist has been jilted during Female Vocalist of the Year voting only to wind up winning the bigger award. Taylor Swift would surely be satisfied if that happened in 2012.

Carrie Underwood took much of 2011 to tour and record new music. She didn't release any new singles, but it hardly seemed like she was on vacation. Miranda Lambert worked harder than ever, even putting together an authentic and original country trio.

Martina McBride and Sara Evans also found success in 2011, with McBride joining Lambert as the only artists with albums eligible for this voting year. Click the orange button below to read about each woman's chances and to see our prediction about who will win on April 1.
