The 2013 Primetime Emmy nominations have been announced and 'Nashville' has gotten a major acting nod. The ABC series follows the musical trials and tribulations -- and beyond -- of two country singers in the form of Connie Britton's Rayna James and Hayden Panettiere's Juliette Barnes. Britton was recognized for her portrayal of established country star James receiving a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

Britton is encountering some stiff competition in the category in the form of Claire Danes of 'Homeland,' Michelle Dockery of ‘Downton Abbey,’ Vera Farmiga of ‘Bates Motel,’ Elisabeth Moss of ‘Mad Men,’ Kerry Washington of ‘Scandal,’ and Robin Wright of ‘House of Cards.’ But her work is certainly strong enough to earn her a win.

The Emmys will be handed out on Sunday, September 22 in Los Angeles. We wish Britton the best of luck in nabbing the prestigious award. Even if she doesn't take home an Emmy statue, just being nominated is a big deal in itself.

'Nashville' was renewed by the network and will return for a second season on ABC.
