When fans head to the stage at the 2015 Taste of Country Music Festival to see the Josh Abbott Band play, they're in for a treat of the Texas country kind. The six-man band will perform during the June 12-14 festival at Hunter Mountain in New York.

Lead singer Josh Abbott hasn't always known he was destined to play music. In fact, he's only been writing music since he was in graduate school in 2004. Two years later, he founded the band, which was a slow process and included a few members who are no longer in the group. The lineup now includes Austin Davis, Preston Wait, Edward Villanueva, Caleb Keeter and James Hertless.

Things for the Texas country band didn't get rolling right away, but now they've developed a huge following in the state and beyond. It makes their story that much more fulfilling, since they grew their fan base almost entirely alone with a lot of hard work. They finally started seeing results in 2011 with "Oh, Tonight" with Kacey Musgraves, their first Top 50 hit.

They've had continued success on the Billboard charts with "Touch" and most recently, the infectious "Hangin' Around."

“For me, the goal is for us to be able to not just maintain, but consistently get bigger," Abbott says. "I feel like Texas has really done well for us, but I’ll never be satisfied."

With a hardworking attitude like that, it's easy to see why they keep achieving goals. The band is just one of many set to play at the ToC Festival this summer.
