Playing the Grand Ole Opry is a dream come true for many artists, but Aaron Watson's experience was especially exciting — he saw Steven Tyler there!

In a chat with Taste of Country Nights host Sam Alex, Watson wasn't too shy to gush about his extraordinary evening at the Opry.

“That Opry experience was everything I’d hoped and dreamed of plus more," he reveals. "I mean, it was incredible. The Opry treated us like family.”

Even though this was Watson's Grand Ole Opry debut, he had been to the venue before. Watson says he'd even been backstage on one of the House's famous tours, but playing and visiting are two very different things.

“It’s a lot different when you know you’re fixin' to step into that circle and play to a sold out crowd," he admits. "It was a special night. What was incredible was my mom and dad were there celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary — just having them there, my father-in-law was there, tons of friends flew in from al over the country, fans flew in from all over the country ..."

The icing on the cake? When Watson quite literally ran into Aerosmith frontman Tyler while backstage, and although he didn't speak to him, he still has a pretty good story.

“I bumped into him when I was going to the restroom, like literally there he was," Watson explains. "I was like, ‘Whoa! What’s up?'"

Not even the most seasoned Opry performers have had that experience.

Sam Alex is the host of Taste of Country Nights radio, a syndicated night show which airs on more than 60 Townsquare Media Group stations nationwide.
