The Academy of Country Music Awards — or ACM Awards, for short — have been Country Music's Biggest Party since the 1960s. The ACMs were the very first big program that celebrated country music, and since the debut, they have changed and even moved cities over the years. Now, we're looking back and reminiscing about some of the greatest ACM Awards moments ever.

Although the ACM Awards technically began in 1966, the signature cowboy hat trophy wasn't created until two years later, but it's still used today! The show was first televised in 1972, and seven years later, the Academy joined with Dick Clark Productions to create an even bigger show. The ACM Awards have been broadcast in Los Angeles, different venues in Las Vegas and even at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Luke Bryan and Dierks Bentley will host the 2016 ACM Awards, which return to Las Vegas this year with a spectacular lineup of performers and presenters. Can it top what you see in this gallery of the best moments through the years? From epic speeches to emotional acceptances, a fire mishap and some incredible performances, these pictures show why the ACM Awards are a must-watch annually.
