Alison Krauss Imposter Arrested Again

A woman who’s accused of posing as Alison Krauss in order to scam men out of money has been arrested again.

Police in Albuquerque arrested 53-year-old Peggy Sue Evers after tracking her to a motel on Oct. 1. KRQE reports that Evers had been on the run since failing to show up at a probation hearing in Arkansas, where she has been sentenced to probation for scamming 75-year-old Don Fulton out of his life savings.

According to investigators, Fulton met Evers on a dating website after losing his wife the previous June. She convinced Fulton that she was the Grammy-winning musician by singing some of Krauss’ hits for him, and the two married shortly afterward.

A few months into their marriage, Evers is accused of draining Fulton’s life savings, convincing him to sign over the deed to his house and filing a will for him, naming herself as his heir. She pleaded guilty in January and received eight years of probation. She was also ordered to pay more than $70,000 in restitution.

Evers is currently being held without bond at the Metro Detention Center in Albuquerque. She will face extradition to Arkansas, where authorities will decide her punishment for breaking the terms of her probation.
