Ashley Monroe Dishes on Being Miranda Lambert’s ‘Dude-ish’ Date to the ACMs

Ashley Monroe is most definitely a woman — a beautiful one at that. Yet, for this Sunday's (April 19) ACM Awards, she's going a little "dude-ish."

Monroe met up with Taste of Country Nights host Sam Alex in Dallas before the ACM Awards and let him know all about her plans. She's attending the awards show with one very special woman whose husband will be busy hosting the show.

“I’m Miranda’s date, so I’m just going to smile and watch the show," Monroe tells Alex, adding that she's certain Blake Shelton will be an excellent host (again). “I think he’s gonna do amazing. He and Luke together make me laugh so much.”

Since she's attending with Miranda Lambert, she's going to play the part of the man (well, kind of). Monroe calls her outfit "dude-ish," saying that her top is similar to a suit, but she won't be wearing pants. Once her glam squad finishes making her up, she'll meet Lambert and head to the show.

Monroe will also be performing Friday night (April 17) with two other big names. She's doing something pretty cool with Dierks Bentley and Kip Moore.

“We’re doing a kind of a tribute medley for Waylon Jennings. It’s gonna be fun," she says. "I love Dierks, and I’ve known Kip for a long time as well.”

Sam Alex is the host of Taste of Country Nights radio, a syndicated night show which airs on more than 60 Townsquare Media Group stations nationwide.
