Ashley Monroe is preparing to take her new album The Blade on the road. The singer has just announced nine dates for cities east of the Mississippi, calling it the The Blade tour.

Monroe will be on the road with Little Big Town to close the summer, so this tour won't launch until Oct. 1 in Macon, Ga. She’s playing clubs and small theaters, with a focus on her new music and songs from the Like a Rose album. No opening acts have been announced for the tour. Tickets go on sale this Friday (Aug. 31) at 10AM.

“I can’t wait to see your faces in the crowd,” Monroe says at her website. She’s in New York City (a tour stop) tonight (July 27) to play The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and has been making media rounds throughout the last week in support of The Blade. Taste of Country gave the project the Critic’s Pick seal, calling it a "rich album that borrows from swing, bluegrass, soul and jazz to ensure no two songs sound exactly the same."

Last Wednesday Monroe played all 13 songs for fans and media at the Basement in East Nashville. Guests like Vince Gill and Striking Matches joined her on stage at different times. Miranda Lambert also came on stage, helping the 28-year-old close her show with “Heart Like Mine,” a song they wrote together for Lambert’s Revolution album.
