Country music's most commercially successful female artist was snake-bitten for a few years. Shania Twain's husband Mutt Lange cheated on her with a good friend, and just as she seemed on the verge of recovering from that personal tragedy, she slipped and fell at the CMT Music Awards in June 2010. OK, those two things are not nearly comparable. The infidelity is just the latest obstacle Twain has had to overcome, and she has with a successful Las Vegas show. Before she even left Ontario to move to Nashville, her mother and step-father were killed in a car accident. Faced with taking care of her siblings, she had to put off her dream of country stardom, but not for long.
