The 'Hard Work and a Hammer' singer was putting in a full day's work before he was a teenager. At age 12, Alan Jackson took a job repairing shoes at a store in his hometown of Newnan, Ga. Later he worked as a forklift operator at K-Mart and, upon moving to Nashville, the mail room at TNN. Jackson was 27 years old when his wife bumped into Glen Campbell while she was working as a flight attendant. She slipped him her husband's demo, and before long he was singing songs for a living.
