Billy Currington's latest single is "Drinkin' Town With a Football Problem," and it has us wondering if the 41-year-old would have had a possible career as a professional athlete if that whole singing thing hadn't gotten in the way.

"It would have been pretty close," says Currington with a chuckle. "I was pretty good, and I had a lot of passion for the sport. It was really what I wanted to do, but it didn't end up that way, but I'm happy with singing and traveling the country and releasing records."

While we had Currington down for a chat, we just had to know the details behind his steamy cover of Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On." He's been singing that tune as a part of his shows ever since he started playing clubs when he was 17. With a catalog including songs such as "Must Be Doin' Something Right" and "Let Me Down Easy," it only makes sense that Gaye's hit would be a part of his singing career.

"I'm a big fan of Marvin Gaye and all that soul era back then," Currington says. "I always loved the soul side of music, and that's probably why I chose that song."

Currington also dished on a foggy prank pulled on him by the prank master himself, Brad Paisley. But you'll just have to watch the whole video to learn about that one.

The singer is currently on Tim McGraw's Shotgun Rider tour alongside Chase Bryant. He also recently released his sixth studio album, Summer Forever.
