Billy Currington was indicted in Chatham County, Ga. this afternoon on charges of making terroristic threats and abuse of an elder person. Both charges stem from an incident that allegedly occurred on his boat on April 15.

WSAV News in Savannah, Ga. reports that Currington was not arrested after the incident in the waters off of Tybee Island along the Georgia shore. The terroristic threat charge states that Currington did "threaten to cause unlawful bodily harm to Charles Harvey Ferrelle … with the purpose of terrorizing Charles Harvey Ferrelle."

The abuse of an elder person charge states that Currington "did willfully inflict mental anguish upon" Ferrell, who is over 65 years old. It's not clear what the two men's relationship is. Currington was indicted on both charges by a grand jury today (April 24). He is from nearby Rincon, Ga.

Currington's current single is 'Hey Girl,' from an upcoming album. He has 10 Top 10 hits, including six No. 1 songs and has sold millions of albums since his career began with 'Walk a Little Straighter' in 2003.

In 2007 he entered a 30-day trauma recovery program to treat anger issues resulting from childhood abuse. According to the Tennessean he received follow-up treatment in Hawaii afterward.
