Love is in the air for Miley Cyrus, who announced her engagement to longtime boyfriend Liam Hemsworth a few days ago, but the same can't be said for her brother, Trace. The son of iconic country singer Billy Ray Cyrus announced today that he and his former fiance, Disney star Brenda Song, have officially broken off their nine-month engagement.

Not only are Cyrus and Song no longer headed down the aisle, but they dissolved their entire relationship. "Brenda and I have decided to go our separate ways," Cyrus, 23, said in a statement.

Trace Cyrus, who is Billy Ray's adopted son, is the lead singer for the pop-rock band Metro Station. He also owns his own clothing line, Southern Made Hollywood Paid, for which Song modeled. Many may recognize Song from her small part in the Facebook movie 'The Social Network,' but she also had a regular role on Disney's 'Suite Life of Zack and Cody.'

The couple announced their engagement last October, just two months after rumors circulated that they were expecting a child. No baby (and not even a baby bump) ever materialized, and as of January, Cryus reportedly said that he and Song were going to wait a year to plan the wedding. Unfortunately, they didn't make it that far. The singer admits that he and his former fiance actually broke up a few months ago -- they just waited to announce the news to the public.

"We split up a couple of months ago," he revealed. "We will continue to focus on our careers."

Break-ups can be hard, but it sounds like Cyrus is trying not to burn any bridges with his lady friend. "I wish Brenda the best and much success in the future," he remarked. "I hope everyone can respect our privacy about this situation."
