Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert’s Anniversary: Reflecting on a Year of Highs and Lows

A Month of Sadness

In December, country music fans learned that Blake Shelton's father's health was failing. Dick Shelton held on for another six weeks after the singer sent a prayer out to him at the American Music Awards, but by late January he had passed. Both Shelton and Miranda Lambert took some time away from the road and their normally active Twitter pages to deal with the death.

Unfortunately, that wouldn't be the only sadness the couple had to endure in January. Less than 10 days later a good friend of Lambert's was killed in a tragic accident. "I have lost a friend I’ve had since 3rd grade today in a tragic accident,” a somber Lambert tweeted at the time. “When will this pain end. Please pray for peace.”
