Blake Shelton Surprises Military Family With Generous Gift

On Saturday night (Sept. 6) in San Diego, Blake Shelton did something for a USO military family that they’ll likely never forget.
During his concert, the singer serenaded Navy uniform-clad Marie Esther and Roland Kiendrebeogo, as well as their 14-year-old son, from the Sleep Train Amphitheatre stage. And the song he sang? ‘Home.’ Shelton asked the audience to turn on their cellphone flashlights during his performance to light up the arena in a magical moment.
Not only did Shelton get up close and personal with the family, but the singer also presented the USO with a JCPenney gift card … for $10,000! Obviously, it will be a great assistance to military families in need.
Shelton was excited about the surprise, tweeting, “Met an awesome military family & surprised
@the_USO with a @jcpenney gift card at my #SanDiego concert last weekend!”
The Kiendrebeogos were representing the San Diego USO, and the money will help local military families. This was especially exciting for this family, because Shelton was the first musician they discovered after coming to the United States from West Africa, according to a source.
Shelton certainly has a lot on his plate. In addition to own career in country music, the singer is JCPenney’s JCP Cares Ambassador. He’s also the new face of Pizza Hut and recently tried to trick a few customers by posing as a Pizza Hut worker. Oh, and he’s a judge on singing competition ‘The Voice.’ All of that adds up to one very busy guy, which could be part of the reason he told Ellen DeGeneres he and wife Miranda Lambert aren’t planning to make a baby anytime soon.
What Is Miranda Lambert’s Ringtone for Blake Shelton?
