Blake Shelton Offers Prayers to Fan Injured in Ski Accident

Music’s healing ability is powerful, and Blake Shelton witnessed just this last week when one fan, Tori Anderson, sent him a tweet of her sister, Casey McAbee, singing along to Shelton’s “God Gave Me You” after a tragic ski accident.

Anderson posted several messages on Twitter last week updating her sister’s hospital status. After a ski accident in which she struck a tree, McAbee was unresponsive for four weeks with a broken neck, fractured skull, eye socket and pelvis.

“After failing her swallow test, not sure if she could sing, your CD played and she began to sing ‘God Gave Me You,'” Anderson writes on Twitter.

Shelton saw the tweet and sent along his prayers for the family. “Wow…. Incredible.. Tell her hello from me. #prayers,” he writes.

Earlier this month, Shelton announced the title and release date of his forthcoming album. If I’m Honest, Shelton’s 12th studio album, will be available on May 20 via Warners Brothers Nashville.

“This is the most excited I’ve been about a new album since the release of my second record,” Shelton admits in a press release.

The album’s lead single, “Came Here to Forget,” was released on March 8, and already hit the top spot on iTunes’ country chart.

“Came Here to Forget” was written by Craig Wiseman and Deric Ruttan, and while he didn’t write the song, Shelton says it still manages to portray his life.

“I’ve had a lot of music over the years,” Shelton says, “but I don’t think I’ve ever had a song before that’s such a direct look into my life.”
