Jo Dee Messina took to her social media accounts Thursday morning (April 19) to ask fans to pray for the people in Watertown, Mass., where police are conducting a manhunt for the surviving suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings earlier this week -- and where she has family.

"OMG! Woke up to the news of a manhunt in Watertown, Ma. THAT'S where the Messinas live," the singer posted to Facebook. She said she was texting her cousin to get some details, adding, "Watertown is where we would go visit my Dad's side of the family on holidays growing up. It's where the family gets together, still, every Christmas Eve. I join them when I'm in Mass for the Holidays ... These are my people. Surrounded by chaos. A delayed return of a text makes me nervous."

Police reportedly shot and killed Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, in a shootout Friday, but his brother, 19-year-old Dzhokar A. Tsarnaev, remains on the loose and is considered armed and dangerous. He is believed to be in Watertown, a suburb of Boston. Watertown and Boston are completely shut down, with no trains, buses or taxis running as authorities conduct a door-to-door search for Tsarnaev. Police have asked all residents to remain indoors with their doors locked, and only open them for police who present proper identification.

Messina says her cousin was on her way to the finish line at the marathon when the explosions happened just a few blocks away, adding that the entire week has been dominated by chaos and fear. She finished by simply asking, "Please say a prayer for the folks in Watertown."
