Backstage at the annual CMA Country Christmas taping on Nov. 8, Brett Eldredge raved about his first ever Christmas album, Glow, which dropped on Oct. 28, featuring a variety of Christmas classics.

Speaking to reporters backstage at the Grand Ole Opry where the show takes place, Eldredge revealed what it was like to record the holiday album in New York City and how much the new project means to him.

"It's been a dream of mine to work on this album for so long," the country crooner says. "I've been waiting my whole life to play my own Christmas album with my family decorating the tree."

In order to create the magic of Christmas and get in the mindset of the well-known songs, Eldredge lived in New York for a week, going to the studio that was decorated in Christmas lights while dressed in a suit, sipping whiskey as he recorded the tunes. "I wanted to go to where this kind of music lives; there's nowhere like New York City," he reveals.  "I just felt like I was in my element ... we did every single step of the whole album exactly how I dreamt to do it and it just turned out the most magical thing I've ever been a part of, so it was pretty special."

Eldredge delivered a stellar performance of his personal favorite holiday classic, "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," on the CMA Christmas special, calling it one of his favorite songs ever. "Performing 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas' is one of my favorite songs to sing live," he says. "It's one of my favorite songs just in general ever because I find so much magic in Christmas music and I feel like this song has such a wonderful message…it brings me to tears honestly every time I get to sing it, so it's a very special song."

Catch Eldredge's performance, along with a host of other amazing stars, when CMA Country Christmas airs on Monday (Nov. 28) at 8PM ET on ABC.
