Brett Eldredge is back on the country radio with his new, uptempo summertime song, 'It Ain't Gotta Be Love.' Eldredge co-wrote the tune with Wayd Battle and Ben Daniel, and the singer takes pride in the complete 180 from his debut single, 'Raymond,' which was about his grandmother's battle with Alzheimer's disease.

"That is what I wanted," Eldredge tells Taste of Country, comparing the two tunes. "I love to have fun. I'm a goofball. I love to get up onstage, run around and go crazy. A lot of my record is like that. I'm also the family guy from the mid-west who has family values and was raised to work hard, so I've got that side of me which you saw come out in 'Raymond.' Now my other side is coming out. I like to have fun. I'm a young guy, and I like to go out."

"'It Ain't Gotta Be Love' was one of the first songs I wrote when I moved to Nashville," Eldredge continues. "I had been in a serious relationship for a while, and I moved to Nashville. It was a new city, and life was good. I was kind of over the whole idea of a serious relationship at that point. I was seeing people going into the bars and stuff looking for their soul mates or looking for love. You could tell by their expressions that they were kind of uptight, and I would think, 'It ain't gotta be love ... you don't have to take it so serious.' So the idea just kind of came from that."

"It's time to get a little weekend crazy / There's no need to make it all that tough / We ain't jumping off the deep end baby / It ain't gotta be love / No, it ain't gotta be love," Eldredge sings in the song's infectious chorus.

"In an hour, we had written this song that talked about exactly that ... not taking things too serious, just going out to the bars and meeting somebody ... getting out on the dance floor, having a drink or whatever," says the singer of the lyrics. "We had fun with it."

"Can I bum a light from you baby? / If you let me I'll buy you a round / Sure is packed, is that seat taken? / Do you mind if I sit down? / I see you tappin' your foot there baby / So you like that song? / Well it happens to be one of my favorites / Do you wanna dance baby? C'mon," sings Eldredge in the opening verse.

"Maybe someday I'll find that one, and I'm not against that at all," Eldredge says. "I'm sure someday I'll have a relationship, but right now, I just like to go out there and have a blast. That's what 'It Ain't Gotta Be Love' is all about."
