Just because Brett Eldredge and Thomas Rhett couldn’t be at the CMA Country Christmas special doesn’t mean they didn’t want to get into the holiday spirit. The two are currently on tour together, and took time away from performing to sit down with Kenzie, a 14-year-old Leukemia survivor, to answer questions, sing a Christmas tune and even giving her a gift.

Kenzie was only 8 years old when she went to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for cancer treatment, and she is now cancer-free. The adorable young lady beamed from the second she walked in and saw two of her favorite stars.

“Oh, my gosh, I can’t believe I just met y’all,” she squealed. “I’m so excited right now!"

Kenzie shared a little about herself, noting that she cheers competitively, and her spunky personality shined through when Rhett asked her if she cheered in the “fly” position.

“I’m a back spot, so I get hit in the face a lot,” she joked, cracking the guys up. Then it was time to pepper them with questions.

“I have 20 — I came prepared,” she said before launching in. She asked the guys thoughtful questions about how their careers started, what they would change about themselves and what advice they’d have for her in her future.

“Keep being you,” Eldredge declared. “You’re awesome."

The guys gave the country fan a gift filled with swag from their merch tables — mugs, T-shirts, a holiday sweater — the works. They then launched into a special mini-concert just for Kenzie, putting a country twist on “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” alternating verses and harmonizing together in a laid-back, impromptu performance.

Kenzie and the woman with her, assumably her mom, were both clearly touched by the performance, and it’s surely a Christmas memory they will never forget.

Eldredge and Rhett are currently on CMT's Suits and Boots Tour, which also features Danielle Bradbery as their opening act.
