Brett Young has gotten some positive reinforcement as his first single, "Sleep Without You," hit No. 1 on Billboard's Country Airplay Chart. Next up, he's looking toward the release of his debut album.

“It is such a surreal feeling to have my first single go No. 1! I moved to Nashville three years ago and have been so lucky to work with the best writers in town,” Young says about the track, which he co-wrote with Justin Ebach and Kelly Archer.

Young tells Sounds Like Nashville about the story behind the song, saying that he was inspired to write the hit after visiting some friends in L.A. and listening to repetitive songs on pop radio that were all about the same topic. "I had this moment where I was like, ‘We understand why that song works, but enough,'" he says, adding that it brought up memories of past relationships and sending goodnight texts to his love. "And I thought, ‘I remember nights where she would work late or something and I would be trying to go to sleep, but was laying there tossing and turning because she hadn’t called to say goodnight yet.’”

The up and coming country singer is releasing his self-titled debut album via Big Machine Records. He revealed that the album's second single, “In Case You Didn’t Know,” makes its way to radio in January of 2017.

Brett Young drops on Feb. 10.
