Brett Young celebrated four platinum singles and revealed his next single at an industry party in Nashville last Wednesday (July 25). His current Top 5 hit “Mercy” is the latest to reach the one million streams and sales certification.

“Mercy” joins each of his three previous singles: “Sleep Without You,” “Like I Loved You” and the triple-platinum “In Case You Didn’t Know.” The newcomer and 2017 Taste of Country RISER performed all four songs with guitarist and producer Dann Huff alongside him. It was an intimate performance at record label executive Jimmy Harnen’s house just outside of Nashville. During his initial remarks Harnen recalled offering Young a record deal in the same backyard poolside location.

Young, the 2017 ACM New Male Vocalist of the Year winner, would step aside after the performance to listen to the first single from his next album alongside his fiancee Taylor Mills, surrounded by radio, media and industry supporters. It’s called “Here Tonight” and was co-written by Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelley. The uptempo cut contrasts the powerful ballads he’s had success with thus far, making good on a promise to add love and energy to the stirring heartbreak sounds that will still be included on his second studio album.

"Sonically, the feel is much more peppy and uptempo, which totally reflects the place I'm at in my life," he tells Taste of Country at Country Jam 2018.

"Here Tonight" will not be released to radio until after "Mercy" peaks on the Billboard Country Airplay chart. There's no timetable for the release of his second album yet, which is good because the California native has plenty to worry about on tour with Thomas Rhett. He's also planning to get married this year. In June he revealed he'll pen a special song just for that ceremony.

"I want to write something specific to the day," he says of the song, that has "yet to be written."

Young's debut album has also gone platinum.
