Life on the road may seem like a great adventure, and it is, but rising star Brett Young is spilling the beans on why no matter how far you roam, there’s no place like home.

The “Mercy” singer has been killing it on the road since his debut single, “Sleep Without You,” and his No. 1 follow-up, “In Case You Didn’t Know.” Brett hit the road in 2017 with Thomas Rhett on the Home Team Tour, then with Lady Antebellum on the You Look Good Tour, then on his own headlining Caliville Tour with Carly Pearce. This year, he has been back out with Rhett on the Life Changes Tour, and will be packing up the bus in November for his own CMT Here Tonight Tour.

The pace is dizzying, but that isn’t why Young sometimes wants to be home. Quite simply, he misses his bed.

“No matter how nice of a situation you have on a tour bus, it’s never a California king,” he says. “And I’m 6’6”, so that’s number one.”

Of course, he also misses his now-wife, Taylor.

"We’re real homebodies. We like to cook and we like TV and movies, and so, we’re catching up on shows and cooking non-road food," he shares. "When we’re at home we like to be at home. We have the dog with us out on the road, but when we’re home he gets to be in his familiar neighborhood, and it’s really just like our version of nesting.”

Young released a new single, "Here Tonight," in September, from a forthcoming album titled Ticket to L.A. that he'll release on Dec. 7. He performed his No. 1 hit "Mercy" on the 2018 CMA Awards on Nov. 14.
