Cam's music video for "Mayday" is a story in itself, and the bubbly blonde stopped by the Taste of Country Nights studio to talk about the clip. She also told us she got to swim where Beyonce swam for "Lemonade."

Cam portrays Amelia Earhart in the video for "Mayday," and she helped create the storyboard. She visualized it with Lindsay Marias and director Daniel Carberry, and it came out absolutely beautiful. Luckily, the pool scenes were warm. She also got to swim where Queen B swam.

“It was a warm pool. We did it in L.A., so Beyonce had been in the pool the week before for 'Lemonade,'" she says before adding, "They did stuff for like The Revenant.”

With this new visual, Cam wanted to go the opposite direction of "Burning House." She didn't want to just make the lyrics come to life, but instead wanted to create a separate story.

"I love storytelling, obviously; that’s why I do music. I love that instead of literally filming what you’re saying, which we kind of did in ‘Burning House,’ … I mean that’s such a powerful story and sometimes it’s a little poetic in ‘Burning House,’ so maybe you don’t fully get what’s going on. I liked having that but with this one I was like, ‘OK. We need to one up this one.’ Instead of just filming what I’m saying, you can listen to the music and you get an extra story."

It was important to her to be the hero in her own story.

"Also I loved writing something where I get to be this motivational woman. I’m the one taking off on this crazy adventure, you’re like the lead role. There’s not a lot of that right now," she explains.

Cam will be touring this summer with Dierks Bentley on his Somewhere on a Beach Tour, which launched on May 12. Her album Untamed is available on iTunes now.

Sam Alex is the host of Taste of Country Nights radio, a syndicated night show which airs on more than 60 Townsquare Media Group stations nationwide.
