Canaan Smith was on stage at a Sounds of Summer tour stop in Bristow, Va. recently, minding his own business, singing his debut single "Love You Like That" to an energetic crowd, when he was bombarded with a not-so-rude interruption from his tour mates.

Dierks Bentley, Kip Moore and duo Maddie and Tae stormed the stage clad in white jumpsuits and owl masks to deliver the news that the song Smith was playing had just claimed the top spot on the Mediabase Country chart, marking his first No. 1 single. And luckily for us, Bentley caught it all on camera.

Shortly after the prank was successfully pulled off, Smith posted a video to his Twitter to thank his fans for their support of this giant feat.

"I can't believe I'm about to say this, but I have the number one song in country music right now," Smith tells the camera with a grin from ear to ear. "I'm just so grateful, thank you fans for all the support and making this happen."

Smith plans to celebrate with a gift to the head of promotion at Mercury.

“He was wanting to buy a Jeep,” he tells Radio.com. “I said, ‘Why don’t you wait? And if ‘Love You Like That’ goes No. 1, you buy the Jeep and I’ll trick it out. I’ll jack it up. I’ll put the tires, the wheels, the tow package, black it out. Whatever you want to do.’ That’s our deal.”

"Love You Like That" is the lead single off of Smith's debut album Bronco, which was released in late June. You can catch the newly-crowned chart-topper on the Sounds of Summer tour through September.
