Before the two best college football teams in the nation face off Monday night (Jan. 11), Canaan Smith will take the field for a special performance of “America the Beautiful” alongside a group of singers called Encore, the touring ensemble of the Phoenix Children’s Chorus.

The event will take place at the University of Phoenix field in Glendale, Ariz. and will also feature Eric Church as the headliner for the tailgating festivities.

Smith is coming off a banner year in his career after earning a No. 1 hit with his song “Love You Like That” from his debut album, Bronco. He also toured with Kip Moore, Dan + Shay and Dierks Bentley before headlining his own tour for the first time this past fall. Smith also had his first Today show appearance.

“2015 was insane,” says Smith in a video he posted as a tribute to the year. “Thank you fans for allowing me to do this day in and day out, y’all are what keep me ticking. Can’t wait to unveil what’s next in 2016, we’ve got a lot of cool things planned. Stay tuned and we’ll see you out on the road. Thanks for everything.”

He will soon be joining Brantley Gilbert on the Blackout Tour beginning Jan. 28 in Saginaw, Wisc., and his current single “Hole in a Bottle” has earned a spot in the Top 40.

The College Football Championship airs Jan. 11 on ESPN, beginning at 8:30PM ET.
