Carrie Underwood Goes Into Detail About That Whole ‘Baby Locked in Car’ Incident

Carrie Underwood had a candid moment on Twitter recently when she shared a story of every mom’s worst fear — locking her child in the car. To be fair, it wasn’t her fault. It was actually the dogs that clicked the lock, but nonetheless she had to break back in.

In a recent interview with Chicago’s US995 radio station, the artist explained the whole story.

“We were at the airport, the car was running, the radio was on, the air conditioning was on, our family kind of came to see us off,” Underwood says. “As you do, you get out of the front seat and you shut the door so you can turn around so you can get your luggage out."

“Immediately, one of the dogs jumped up on the little control panel on the door, and I heard the thing click. I was like, ‘The doors locked, the doors locked, the doors locked!’” she recalls. “Of course, nobody had a spare set of keys. It was my inlaws’ car. We were trying to jimmy open the car door. Nobody had a hanger. I was trying to get the dogs to come back over and do the same thing and unlock the door.”

The rest is Twitter history. Underwood recapped the experience, saying they ended up having to break a window to get to Isaiah out. She later clarified it was not actually her that went Louisville Slugger on the car, it was her brother-in-law.

Thankfully, the story had a happy ending. Since that day Underwood has been busy working on her new record, for which the lead-off single “Smoke Break” and its smokin’ hot video just released. The country star will return to host the CMA Awards this fall alongside Brad Paisley, in addition to her gig on NBC's Sunday Night Football. The Storyteller album impacts on Oct. 23.
