Carrie Underwood turned to social media to share a sweet picture of her two rescue dogs on National Dog Day, emphasizing the importance of adopting rescue pets instead of shopping.

The country superstar is very close to her two dogs, Ace and Penny, and it's not unusual for her to share shots of them on Instagram. She shared a picture of both of them lying side by side, Penny on a blanket with her pink tongue hanging partway out and Ace adorably right behind her, partway on a pillow and partway off while looking at the camera.

"In honor of #NationalDogDay here are my little fur bundles of joy, Ace and Penny...they are naughty and crazy and noisy, but I love 'em!" Underwood writes, adding the hashtags #AdoptDontShop and #rescuedog.

Underwood is a very devoted mom to her dogs as well as her son Isaiah, even going so far as to get special water-based physical therapy for Ace in the early part of 2017 when he suffered paralysis after a herniated disk. She shared a too-sweet-for-words video of the determined pooch going through the therapy in an Instagram video, updating fans, "his left side is slowly getting better but we have a long way to go."

Underwood's not kidding about the dogs being troublemakers. Quite a few of her Instagram posts center around things the furry rascals have done to get into trouble -- like the time Penny stole little Isaiah's french toast right off the breakfast table.
