Carrie Underwood and co-host Brad Paisley made a boatload of jokes during their 2015 CMA Awards opening monologue, and some were bound to go over some heads — Underwood's mom included.

The singer posted a screenshot on Facebook after the event, showing a hilarious text exchange with her mother, who was presumably watching at home.

“I liked the opening but I’m sorry to say I don’t know the Justin Timberlake song you are talking about,” she wrote, along with a smiley-face emoji.

Paisley and Underwood talking about Timberlake’s collaboration with Chris Stapleton to happen later in the night, and Paisley commented that he hoped the pop artist would sing his favorite song.

“It’s a Christmas song,” he began, and some audience members were already laughing. “It’s about a … package. Something … in a box, a beautifully-wrapped package in a box …"

By that point, most of the crowd was in on the joke. For those who are with Underwood’s mom on this, Paisley was referring to a popular Saturday Night Live digital short Timberlake did a few years ago with former cast member Andy Samberg, titled “D— in a Box" — a '90s-style hip hop parody about surprising a lady with a certain, well, personal present for Christmas that year.

Timberlake played along with the joke, reacting to the camera and shaking his head, but also mouthing that he might actually do it.

He didn't, but Timberlake and Stapleton’s performance brought down the house at the CMAs, going viral almost instantly online. The majorly talented duo sang Stapleton’s “Tennessee Whiskey” and then launched into Timberlake’s “Drink You Away,” both of which brought pure soulful country-rock to the stage, blowing the audience and those watching at home away. Fans can revisit the performance here.
