It's been three years since Carrie Underwood released a studio album (Blown Away hit shelves May 1, 2012), and fans have begun to wonder what will be coming next from the 32-year-old, who had a baby in February.

There have been teasers, hints and tweets in the last few months, all pointing in a new direction. Underwood confirms that new music will feature a different side of artistry that we have never seen before from her.

“There’s definitely a different sound that’s coming together,” Underwood spills to Country Countdown USA. “I want everything to have its own space and look different, sound different, feel different. So I’ve been working with another producer, as well as with Mark Bright, who I’m always gonna love, but getting things a little different, and it’s been fun."

A change in style makes sense for the star, who has gone through a bit of change in her personal life after becoming a new mommy. In fact, Underwood revealed to Taste of Country Nights host Sam Alex that this album is likely to include a song she wrote about her little bundle of joy, Isaiah.

“It’s impossible to not let your life affect things,” she notes. “There’s one song that will probably make it on the album that’s about my husband and our baby; it’s really sweet, and I’m happy to have that life magic happening in the room, and he’ll be able to look back at it and say, ‘That’s about me!'"

There is no confirmed release date for the new project, but with Underwood back to work, it's likely we'll start hearing new music on the sooner side of average.

“We’re off to more than a great start,” the "Little Toy Guns" singer shares. “We’ve been recording, I’ve been in the studio, I’ve laid vocals down, background vocals, [and] there’s still a few steps to go, but it shouldn’t be too long."
