Like many of Nashville's red carpet music stars, Carrie Underwood is making the transition to movies. Underwood will make her feature film debut in 'Soul Surfer' -- alongside seasoned silver screen stars Helen Hunt and Dennis Quaid -- this April.

'Soul Surfer' centers around a young girl, 'Bridge to Terebithia' star AnnaSophia Robb, who struggles to find the courage to continue surfing following a brutal shark attack. If the storyline sounds familiar, that's because it's a true story -- the film is centered around surfer Bethany Hamilton, who lost her arm to a 14-foot tiger shark at the age of 14.

In the film, Underwood plays a church group youth leader who gives Bethany the extra push to find the strength to head back into the waves despite her new disability.

The 'Soul Surfer' tide rolls into theaters on April 8.
