Carrie Underwood spent almost a year trying to sell the house she bought after winning 'American Idol.' She took a big hit when it finally sold, getting $12,000 less than she bought it for in 2005. It's possible she learned an important real estate lesson -- that an empty house is much more difficult to sell than one that seems move-in ready.

The asking price was in the neighborhood of $420,000 for this three bedroom, three bathroom home in Franklin, Tenn. According to Zillow, Underwood didn't live here much past 2007, when she bought another home in Brentwood. Then, she and hubby Mike Fisher put down roots in Canada, only to turn that place around without ever really living there. Fortunately, the superstar has a country career to fall back on, because the real estate world hasn't been good to her.
