Scotty McCreery accepted his award for New Artist of the Year at the 2011 American Country Awards and proceeded to rattle off his thank yous like he'd been doing it since he was 12-years-old. "My first award and it's a dad-gum Telecaster," the 'American Idol' winner said before thanking fans and his management team. He even remembered to give a birthday shout out to his mother.

The 2011 American Country Awards winners were announced on Dec. 5 in Las Vegas, and though it was only the second annual event, the A-list country music star showing proved that this is one awards show that's here to stay.
