Rascal Flatts, ‘Come Wake Me Up’ – Song Review
When he's on, few vocalists commit to an emotion quite like Rascal Flatts' Gary LeVox. The singer will recklessly throw himself into love, heartbreak or desperation. 'Come Wake Me Up,' the new single from 'Changed,' is another fine example of how this trio continues to work at a level few country artists are aware of.
Luke Bryan vs. Chris Young – The Showdown
Luke Bryan is half way to enshrinement in the Taste of Country Showdown Hall of Fame with his new song 'Drunk on You.' The midtempo lover from the 'Tailgates and Tanlines' album made quick work of 'No Hurry' by the Zac Brown Band last week. He'll need to keep the momentum going forward to do the same to this week's challenger.
New Songs on the Radio – May 2012
Forget the old saying "April showers bring May flowers." It's obvious that those gloomy spring downpours have a much brighter outcome -- a flood of new songs on the radio for May 2012.
Kenny Chesney, ‘Come Over’ – Song Review
The second single from Kenny Chesney's upcoming 'Welcome to the Fishbowl' album finds the singer returning to his old blue chair in an effort to pour his soul into a six-chord cask. It's not clear yet if Chesney wrote 'Come Over,' but like many of his best ballads, this cut feels very, very personal.
Rodney Atkins, ‘Just Wanna Rock N’ Roll’ – Song Review
Much like he did with 'Take a Back Road' in 2011, Rodney Atkins has released a song you'll struggle to keep from singing along with by summer's end. 'Just Wanna Rock N' Roll' is carefree fun that showcases the singer as a cool breeze on a dog's-breath-hot summer day.
Randy Travis, ‘More Life’ – Song Review
It's hard not to wonder if 'More Life' was chosen as a single from Randy Travis' 'Anniversary Collection' album to allow the singer a chance to respond to his recent brush with infamy. The introspective ballad finds Travis asking for forgiveness from those he has hurt. Is this another case of art birthed from real life?
Julie Roberts Honors Her Alma Mater With New Song ‘Sweet Carolina’
Julie Roberts has released a new tune that is extra special to the South Carolina native. Robert, a University of South Carolina alum, dedicates her song 'Sweet Carolina' to her Alma Mater as part of the college's Carolina Promise campaign.
Lady Antebellum Debut New Single ‘Wanted You More’ During ‘The Voice’ Finale
Lady Antebellum took the Hollywood stage on 'The Voice' Tuesday night, and left to a standing ovation from the live studio audience after singing their new single 'Wanted You More.' The power-ballad featured Hillary Scott and Charles Kelley dramatically pleading with each other in a way their loyal fans have become familiar with.
Bri Bagwell, ‘Whiskey’ – Song Review
Honesty, a big voice and the right song are what makes a country star, and Bri Bagwell has all three with her new single 'Whiskey.' The New Mexico-born and Texas-aged country singer thirsts for a man drowning his sorrows in a bottle of Jack Daniels. He should be taking comfort in her arms.
Lady Antebellum, ‘Wanted You More’ – Song Review
The power behind the punch of Lady Antebellum's sophomore album has withered away to little more than a slap to the cheek with the group's fourth single 'Wanted You More.' The best songs from 'Own the Night' have already been issued as singles, and while hope remains for a late surge ('Cold as Stone' or 'Friday Night' perhaps), this new offering is more style than substance.
