Country music’s most celebrated vocalist is set to headline Country on the River in 2017. Chris Stapleton has been announced as the first artist for the Aug. 3-5 festival in Prairie du Chien, Wisc.

Stapleton is coming off back to back Male Vocalist of the Year wins at the CMA Awards. The Entertainer of the Year nominee brings songs from his critically acclaimed, double platinum Traveller album. In barely a year he went from being one of the best kept secrets in Nashville to a household name and bucket list artist for country’s purist fans.

Two more headliners will be announced for Country on the River 2017 in the coming weeks. In 2016, thousands watched headliners Kid RockLee Brice and Billy Currington, perform, with support from artists like Montgomery Gentry, the Swon BrothersClare DunnEric PaslayAmanda Watkins, the Eli Young BandGranger Smith and LoCash.

Tickets for COTR are on sale now, starting at $99 for three-day general admission passes and $415 for VIP packages. This is the eighth annual Country on the River, and the festival is quickly becoming one of the top camping and country music destinations in the country.
