It's a Chris Stapleton world ... the rest of us are just living in it and paying rent.

The country singer-songwriter won Male Vocalist of the Year at the 2015 CMA Awards on Wednesday night (Nov. 4), on the same night that he also took home New Artist of the Year and Album of the Year honors.

Stapleton's debut album, Traveller, was one of the most highly-respected and critically acclaimed country releases of 2015, and he demonstrated his outstanding vocal chops earlier in the night during a joint performance with Justin Timberlake.

"There's going to be a party tonight," he said in accepting the Male Vocalist award.

The he turned serious, saying, "About two years ago I lost my dad, and I made this record thinking a lot about the music that he would have liked."

"And he would have liked to have seen this," he added, sounding choked up.

"My mom's here tonight. I want to thank my mom, and I want to thank ... all of these people that are here tonight, all the people that I've written songs with and gotten to sing with. I look at all the faces of all the people that have helped me support my family over the years, the past 15 years writing songs and playing out there. It's unbelievable. This is an unbelievable thing to me, and I'm not gonna take it lightly."

Stapleton thanked his wife again. "She always pushes me to be the best that I can be doing anything," he said, also thanking his brother and sister and cousins as the crowd cheered wildly.

"I've got to thank the six people that came and watched me play in the basement of a bar somewhere, you know?" he said, seeming amazed at how far he had come. "I wouldn't give anything for those gigs, and maybe we'll play some bigger ones now."
