Chris Young – Then and Now

Chris Young was discovered on ‘Nashville Star,’ and this ‘Then’ picture shows the at the time 20-year-old crooner doing his best to win the USA Network’s singing competition. He would be successful, and in the years since, he’s bulked up and changed hats. Back then, his headwear was inspired by Toby Keith. Today, he lets his dark locks blow free in the wind.

When Young ditched his trademark black cowboy hat in early 2011, it was almost comical how much attention the move received. The singer admitted that fans told him they were surprised to see he had hair. In this March 2006 photo he’s sporting a curled brim straw hat like the one Keith wears, but the look wouldn’t last. Young hasn’t quite gone through as many hats as Tim McGraw, but he hasn’t been around as long, either. From top to bottom, we like this 2012 look much better than any he sported previously.
