Typically, stars will keep their comments about other stars to themselves. Steve Earle wasn't issued the Nashville handbook of political correctness, however. After calling Garth Brooks “the Anti-Hank,” Earle said Shania Twain was “the highest paid lap dancer in Nashville.”

Earle was no fan of the midriff-baring Twain's popularity. In 2001, he had a poster of the star on his office door with the word "talent" handwritten next to an arrow pointing at her bellybutton. The always classy 'Any Man of Mine' singer largely avoided discussing the controversy.
