Craig Morgan turned to social media on Wednesday morning (Nov. 9) to share his very strong feelings about Americans who threatened to leave the country if Donald Trump was elected president.

The real estate tycoon and former Apprentice star was elected on Tuesday evening (Nov. 8) in an electoral college upset that was quite unexpected in most media circles. Morgan — who has often been very vocal about his avid support of conservative causes — made his feelings about those who vowed to leave America in that circumstance clear in a post to Facebook:

God Bless America, land that I love. Stand beside her and guide her through the night with a light from above.
America, I have stood and will always stand by you. You have allowed me to be me. I am proud to be from a nation where the people's vote matters. There have been numerous people say that if Donald Trump was elected they would leave this nation. If you choose not to, I completely understand as it is the greatest country in the world. Should you choose to stand by your word and leave, don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

Morgan served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves for years prior to launching his country music career, and he has commented publicly several times in the past on hot button issues and debates. In early 2015 he slammed tweets from Seth Rogen and Michael Moore about the film American Sniper, saying of Moore, “Why this guy is not put in jail is beyond me. He’s just short of terrorism, in my opinion, and deserves none of the blessings that we have in this country — although he does. That’s the contradicting thing, and I struggle with that.”

Not long after, Morgan appeared on Fox News to decry comments Ebony.com Senior Editor Jamilah Lemieux made during an appearance on MSNBC, when she said, “Nothing says, ‘Let’s go kill some Muslims’ like country music, fresh from Lynchburg, Virginia."

“It’s a little insulting, but it’s also laughable,” Morgan said, adding, "Any time they have the opportunity to use something against a politician, or against a Republican, they’re just scratching at the surface to get anything they can to insult these people. And now they were trying to use country music — a format of music which is probably the most patriotic genre of music."
