Dan + Shay are usually showing off their smooth harmonies and sensitive style, but in one of their recent tour bus covers the guys took on a more hard-hitting dance tune: Calvin Harris’ “This Is What You Came For.”

Dan Smeyers pulled out an acoustic and strummed a bare-bones version of the pop hit while Shay Mooney displayed his vocal chops, doing his best Rihanna tribute and adding some rhythm to his performance by beating on his chest.

What resulted is a short, but definitely sweet, version of the tune that fans will be putting on repeat all day. The guys break up at the very end after Mooney throws in one last pseudo-electronic run, modifying his voice with his fist again, then dives offscreen, laughing.

“This Is What You Came For” has actually been the source of some controversy lately, as it was recently revealed Harris’ ex Taylor Swift wrote the lyrics under a pseudonym. Harris posted several tweets calling Swift and her team out for trying to make him look bad, and went at the singer specifically for needing “someone new to try and bury” now that she’s off her tour.

Either way, Dan + Shay pulled off the catchy tune with none of the drama and all the skill. The duo recently released a new record called Obsessed, a name that was inspired by their fans’ social media comments. The guys have said Obsessed may be a little different than their debut album, but they’re still the same band.

“It was something new for us, and kind of a next step,” Mooney says. “We’re really excited about the direction. We feel like it was the best representation of Dan + Shay, the next step. We’re not alienating our fans that fell in love with the first record, but it is definitely a step forward.”

Of course, fans weren’t deterred by a little forward motion, and Obsessed hit No. 2 on the Billboard Country Albums charts. Dan + Shay are currently on tour with Darius Rucker and Michael Ray.
