October 2, 2012 is sure to be a date that Darius Rucker won't soon forget, as it marks the day that the singer was asked to become the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry family.

During his routine performance on the prestigious Opry stage, Rucker chatted with the crowd while answering some of their questions. But he was thrown a curveball when his good friend and fellow country star Brad Paisley popped up in the crowd with not one, but two questions for the former Hootie and the Blowfish frontman.

"My question is in two parts," Paisley stated as fans scrambled to capture the moment on film. "First question is: Are you still the worst poker player in the world? Other question is, would you like to be the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry?"

"Oh, you're kidding me. Tonight? Really?" a stunned Rucker responded. Paisley quickly quipped, "You haven't answered," to which Rucker came back with a humble, "Yes, I would. Wow, really? Wow."

Rucker will have to wait a few weeks before returning to the Opry stage for his official induction, which is set for October 16.

"Tonight I was honored by my good friend Brad Paisley when he inducted me into the Grand Ole Opry," Rucker tweeted to his fans after he was able to process the night's events. "What an honor. I am in awe."

Fans in the Nashville area can log onto the Opry's website to purchase tickets to the show, and those out of town can tune in through WSM's website when Rucker's induction is broadcast live.
