Darryl Worley is once again using his star power for some good by continuing to do his part in honoring our country and the military fighting for our freedom. Worley has released a new, self-penned tune, 'Unsung Heroes,' which is currently available for digital download through his website.

Besides giving the world another patriotic anthem that shows his pride and love for the men and women overseas, Worley is donating $1.00 from every download through his website of the song to two military-affiliated charities. The $1.00 proceeds will be divided between U.S. Army Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Command (FMWRC), a charity formed to benefit the families of the men and women serving overseas, as well as 9/11 Families for a Secure America Foundation. The song, which honors the often overlooked family members of U.S. troops, is also available for a free download for those serving in the military, past or present.

After the assassination of Osama bin Laden in early May, Worley knew the time was right for another patriotic hit that picked up where his 2003 smash, 'Have You Forgotten,' left off.

"[My wife and I] stayed up 'til 4:30 in the morning celebrating," Worley tells Taste of Country of the historic night President Obama announced the death of the terrorist. "That's something that I've prayed for since the day they attacked us on 9/11. There were so many people killed that day, and we've lost so many more great Americans in the fight and pursuit of him since then. So immediately we were jumping up and down, high-fiving and celebrating."

"Then, before I caught my breath, I was almost like my emotion went the opposite direction. I thought of those families and those people. It's one of the greatest days in American history, but it's not going to bring daddy back, or mamma back or children who have laid their lives down. Some of those people have been very near and dear to me and my friends," the singer says with a shaky voice, fighting back tears. "So I knew the sequel to 'Have You Forgotten' had to be 'Unsung Heroes.'"

In 2003, Worley's single 'Have You Forgotten,' honoring the fallen American citizens and soldiers after the 9/11 attacks, became one of the most-played songs on country radio. The tune spent seven weeks at No. 1 on the country singles chart, and received numerous award nominations and accolades. The song continues to be the biggest hit of Worley’s career, which has been ongoing for nearly two decades.
