Wherever David Nail is today, he is one happy man. This week, the Missouri native is experiencing what it's like to sit atop the country singles chart with the nation's No. 1 song. 'Let It Rain,' penned by Nail and hit songwriter Jonathan Singleton, knocked the Zac Brown Band's 'Keep Me in Mind' out of the top slot after multiple weeks.

Upon hearing the good news, Nail took to his Twitter page, where he let up on sports talk (just for a brief moment, though!), to share some of the feelings he's experiencing with the first No. 1 song of his career.

"Words seem far to simple, but I say THANK U from the bottom of my heart!" Nail wrote. "Greatest moment of my career by far! Thank you Country Radio!"

"I am more happy for MCA Records today than I am for myself!" he said in his follow-up tweet. "Just really proud to be a part of that family!"

Fans and stars alike began blowing up Nail's Twitter feed by congratulating his latest career accomplishment, including a very memorable first kudos sent via text.

"The first person to text congrats was @DierksBentley," Nail said. "Made me a nervous wreck all day! Really meant a lot! Such a fan of his!"

Congratulations to Nail, Singleton and MCA Records on taking 'Let It Rain' to the top. Click here to read our exclusive interview with songwriter Jonathan Singleton about the story behind writing 'Let It Rain.'
