Davy Jones Dead at 66: Trace Adkins and Chuck Wicks Share Fond Memories
Former Monkees singer Davy Jones died of a heart attack today (Feb. 29) at the age of 66. Though Jones was a pop icon, memorizing kids of the '60s with his television series band, even country stars were affected by the loss and shared fond memories of the singer and the show via Twitter. It just goes to show that music is a universal language, regardless of genre.
Trace Adkins issued a tweet about watching the show on Saturday mornings -- crucial TV viewing hours when you are a kid. It immediately conjured up images of little Trace as a tyke, enjoying the Monkees' hits. "I remember watching The Monkees on Saturday mornings when I was a kid," he said. "DAYDREAM BELIEVER...Rest in peace."
Chuck Wicks, on the other hand, shared a more personal and firsthand experience with Jones, revealing that he actually made the late singer's acquaintance at an awards show a few years ago. He tweeted: "Sat next to Davy Jones at an award show couple years back. Such a great guy.. RIP Davy Jones."
Davy Jones is survived by a wife and four children.
