Deana Carter started her career off with a bang when she released 'Strawberry Wine' in 1996. As her debut single and the lead hit from her first album 'Did I Shave My Legs for This?,' the song about a young girl losing her innocence shot to the top of the charts in no time.

In 1997, 'Strawberry Wine' was voted Song of the Year three times: at the CMA Awards, by the Nashville Songwriters Association International and at the Nashville Music Awards. Although Carter went on to have a lengthy country music career, none of her hits ever surpassed this addition to the Top 100 Country Songs list. 'Strawberry Wine' is still considered her signature tune 16 years after its debut.
