Carrie Underwood fans are a loyal and vocal bunch. Care Bears leapt to the singer's defense immediately after 'X Factor' judge, singer and actress Demi Lovato made a somewhat innocuous comment to a contestant on the reality singing show that was interpreted as a diss of Underwood.

Aspiring country singer Rachel Potter sang Heart's rock power ballad 'Alone' on the show on Wednesday (Nov. 13), explaining that she chose that song because Underwood had performed it prior.

Lovato, likely trying to give Potter support and a vote of confidence, told her, "No, you would do better than Carrie Underwood," and that's when the floodgates opened, with many of the country star's fans giving their opinions on Twitter.

Underwood loyalists defended the singer, who is currently knee-deep in rehearsals for 'The Sound of Music Live!,' with one particularly miffed fan posting: "Hey Demi, Carrie Underwood would wipe the floor with every person on this show. Check yourself before you wreck yourself. #XFactor."

Ouch! Another fan used numerical stats and lobbed a zinger at Lovato, tweeting that no one heard her comment since 'X Factor' ratings have been hanging out in the basement all season. It's like a take on that old saying -- if a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it, does it still make a sound?

Well, Lovato's comments made enough of a sound to go viral on Twitter.

While her words weren't a nasty insult toward Carrie Underwood, the country star's fans still felt the need to set Lovato straight. That's the kind of loyalty and support Underwood has earned.
