Dustin Lynch Honors Military Members During American Hero Soundcheck

Dustin Lynch

Dustin Lynch’s sold-out Taste of Country Christmas Tour stop in Texarkana, Ark. was about more than just great country music. Ashley Furniture, Taste of Country and the ‘Hell of a Night’ singer invited members of the military to a pre-show soundcheck. It turned into an intimate acoustic date with one of country music’s fastest rising stars.

U.S. Marine John Orozco was thrilled to be invited to the American Hero Soundcheck, which was sponsored by Ashley Furniture. So was B.J. Nettles, who spent 27 years in the Army before retiring. Nettles was at a table with her Army pals John and Rita Leroy.

“We met on the way to Iraq,” Rita tells radio station KKYR in Texarkana, making a suggestion toward her husband. That was about 22 years ago.

John Leroy spent 28 years serving his country, a sacrifice Lynch is not unfamiliar with. “My uncle is a Ranger and my Grandpa was in the Air Force,” he shared during the party.

The event was a chance for everyone invited to get up close and personal with Lynch, make song requests and even pose for photos. The ‘Where It’s At’ hitmaker then took a break while Logan Mize played a 30 minute set that included ‘Can’t Get Away From a Good Time’ and other rowdy country tracks.

The sold-out Shooters Sports Bar crowd was ready to hear fun songs like ‘She Cranks My Tractor’ by the time Lynch took the stage. He didn’t disappoint, pushing a scheduled 75-minute-long set into overtime. Drawing from his muses, he joked and danced around, played a beer-drinking game and held the crowd’s attention the entire evening. His contagious energy filled the club.

Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson and George Jones. Those are my three main dudes,” Lynch dished. “Those are the men in country music I admire.”

This weekend’s Taste of Country Christmas Tour stops are the final three of the year. Look for Lynch and Mize in Lufkin/Nacogdoches, Texas, Lake Charles, La. and Victoria, Texas.
