Dustin Lynch has always made sure to include fans via social media, but he's really been putting it all out there lately. The singer says the reaction he's gotten for his new gut-level honesty has been positive all the way around.

Lynch caused a stir with his reaction to his No. 1 hit "Small Town Boy" being snubbed in the ACM Awards nominations. He didn't try to hide his disappointment when he filmed himself watching the nominees announced live and found that he was not among them. It's part of a whole new approach for how he relates to people online.

"It's been, honestly, selfishly it's been rejuvenating," he tells Taste of Country's Ania Hammar in this week's episode of That's What She Said in the clip above. "Kinda self-therapy, because I can talk about whatever I want to ... I'm single, so I don't have a person that I can come home to and get it out, so I can just hit record and get it all on camera."

Naturally, Dustin Lynch Was a Bit of a Teenage Romeo

He says the conversation that he has with fans at meet and greets has become deeper and more intimate as he's shared more about his real life, and other artists are taking notice.

"It really hit home with a lot of them whenever we aired my reaction to the ACM nominations," he shares. "Because I was not the only artist that felt that way. Every single awards show, there's songs and artists that deserve to be recognized, but there's just not enough space. I was just simply being real on camera, and we put it out there."

Lynch did earn a nomination for Top Country Song at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards for "Small Town Boy," and it's also up for Male Video of the Year in the upcoming 2018 CMT Music Awards. His most recent single is "Good Girl," which Taste of Country chose as one of the Hottest Songs of 2018.
