For some country music fans, Eli Young Band is a new group of guys on the rise. What they may not know is that the band has been hard at work building their career for well over a decade, even though they just celebrated their first No. 1 single with 'Crazy Girl.'

Their latest hit 'Even if It Breaks Your Heart' takes a trip back down memory lane for the Texas-based band, as it tells the story of pursuing your dreams -- which in their case was making it in Nashville -- no matter what the circumstances may be.

"With 'Even if It Breaks Your Heart,' we knew right away that we wanted to record it," the band's lead vocalist, Mike Eli, tells Taste of Country. "We had heard Will Hoge's [who co-wrote the song] version and already knew Eric Paslay, the other co-writer. For us and the road we've been on the last 10 years, it kind of felt like our story and it felt like something that we could have or should have written. It felt right for us right away."

"The song really felt like the perfect second single for us," adds EYB bassist, Jon Jones. "When we were recording 'Crazy Girl,' that stood out as what we needed to lead with, and in a lot of ways, that put us on the radar. A lot of people know us as that band that sings 'Crazy Girl' and that's it, whereas we have this long career that we have been building. This is a great song to kind of go back, and in a way, tell the story of the band. It will hopefully be a good introduction from 'Crazy Girl' for people to kind of understand where we come from."

Eli Young Band released the new music video for the song in recent weeks, delivering a visual of the emotion throughout the storyline. "The song has an underlying message of hope and positivity," says drummer Chris Thompson. "I think that video captured that positive message. I know when all four of us watched that video for the first time, we all got chills. I think that the core message of the song is really delivered in the storyline of the video."

A few weeks ago, guitarist James Young broke a few hearts when he tied the knot with his girlfriend, Abby Setzler. The band is now back out on the road on their Keep on Dreamin' Tour, also featuring Eric Paslay.
