Beware of Eric Church. Not only is he an outsider, but sometimes he even breaks into places.

Church was inducted into the North Carolina Hall of Fame Thursday night (Oct. 15), but was unable to attend the event. So, his mother and sister arrived at the ceremony to accept the award on his behalf. Little did they know, he was planning to crash the Gem Theater!

According to a press release, Church was at a private event in North Carolina that ended earlier than he expected. On a last minute whim, he borrowed the keys to his dad's SUV and decided to make the hour-and-a-half trip to the Hall of Fame ceremony. His assistant drove, while Church and his wife figured out their next move.

For the next hour, Church texted his sister Kendra, who was at the theater with their mom. Unbeknownst to her, he was trying his best to make it to the venue to accept his award. Church arrived at the venue and searched for a backstage entrance as his mother was making the acceptance speech. His assistant, Marshall Alexander, scaled a wall to a second level balcony entrance and was able to break into the backstage balcony doors. He then found a ladder and threw it over the edge for Church and his wife to climb.

Church then burst onto the stage, much to the surprise of the audience and his mother, who was finishing up her speech. The star had no song prepared, but after the urging of the crowd, he borrowed another musician's guitar to perform "Carolina." A scene fit for film, this is one story Church will be telling for a long time.

The "Like a Wrecking Ball" hitmaker is also currently a featured artist at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville.
